Flowers and Gardens in Pastel - 5-Week Class

Location: RIWS Lower Level Classroom
Instructor: Jeneane Lunn
Date: Thursdays January 18th - February 15th
Time: 10am-12:30pm

Because of their speed and immediacy, pastels are a wonderful medium for painting flowers from life or photos. We will work from live bouquets and photos of gardens. Doing a combination of flowers indoors from life and landscapes of gardens plein air or from photos is the best way to become an expert flower painter. Working from life in the studio allows one the time to really study different kinds of flowers and learn how their stems, leaves and buds work together. This kind of knowledge is great when working in a garden with an abundance of flowers allowing the artist to use an informed shorthand to make marks that accurately describe the different kinds of plants and flowers.
