The Rhode Island Watercolor Society flourishes because of its devoted community of members!
To become a member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, first choose the membership level that's right for you. Then either fill out our online form below, or come in to the gallery to pick up a hard copy of our membership form.
Associate Membership - $50
This membership level is open to the general public and artists working in any medium. There are no specific requirements to become an associate member.
- Reduced entry fees for all Open Juried Shows sponsored by RIWS.
- Discounts on all RIWS classes, workshops and special events.
- Discounts on bus trips to museums and exhibits throughout the North East.
- Access to RIWS studio space, including a printing press.
- Access to the RIWS library, which has hundreds of great artist reference books.
- Opportunities to meet and work with regional and national artists.
- Free admission to demonstrations by local, regional, and national artists.
- Opportunities to sell your artwork and gift items, such as cards, in the RIWS gallery.
Student Membership - $25
You must be 18 years or older, and registered at an accredited college or university. You will be required to submit a copy of your current class registration, or a valid/current student ID to verify your student status.
- All the benefits of an Associate Membership, at half the price.
Artist Membership - $75
You
must have had your work accepted (and exhibited) in three separate Open Juried Shows sponsored by RIWS within a five year period. Anyone who feels that they have reached this level must provide a list of the three shows, including the title and year.- All the benefits of an Associate Membership, as well as...
- The opportunity to hold any office, or any seat, on the Board of Directors.
- Inclusion in the RIWS Annual Artist Member Exhibition.
- The opportunity to exhibit your work in a Member Group Show (held annually).
- Inclusion in RIWS Invitational Shows at other RI and MA art organizations and galleries.
Signature Artist Membership - $75
You must have had your work accepted (and exhibited) in three separate RIWS National Watermedia Shows* in any ten year period. Anyone who feels that they have reached this level must provide a list of the three shows, including the year.
*The RIWS National Watermedia Show takes place once a year annually, usually in late July/early August. Other juried shows open to entries nationwide DO NOT count towards Signature Membership, only acceptance into the Annual National Watermedia Show is counted.

- The honor of signing "RIWS" after your name, to showcase that you are a "Signature" Member of RIWS.
- Inclusion of your bio and a few images of your artwork in the RIWS Signature Member Book, kept in the gallery for visitors to read.
- Inclusion as a "Featured Signature Member" in one of the RIWS monthly Newsletters.

If you are new to RIWS and would like to become an Associate or Student Member, you can register online using the buttons below. You may also download, print, and mail in your new membership form with payment.
Current members may renew online by logging in to their profiles and clicking the "Renew Membership" button. If you are a current member and do not have a password to log in, or are having trouble renewing online, please contact the gallery for assistance. You may also download, print, and mail in your renewal form with payment.
