Description:
In this 2-day workshop artists will learn about the oil & cold wax experience from mixing to applying it, and using unconventional tools to create different mark-making textures. Cold wax is buttery soft and when mixed with oil paint adds body, transparency and depth to the painting. Through a process of layering and manipulating different oil and cold wax layers, rich abstract paintings are created, filled with vibrant color and visual texture. This workshop is perfect for the beginner and exciting to the experienced artist.

Each session begins with a demonstration of the process by the instructor. On the first day, you’ll create three to four paintings on 140 lb. watercolor paper. In addition, you will be putting gesso on your boards (you determine the board size) to ready them for day two. On the second day you will begin painting on your gessoed boards. Or, you may continue painting on 140 lb paper.

Materials List for two-day workshop:

• 1 Roll of paper towels
• 2 -3 wooden cradled panels (12”x12” 1-5/8”deep suggested size) You can also purchase gessoed boards if you prefer.
• 1-Garbage bag
• Large pieces of cardboard for transport home

Materials Supplied by Teacher: ($20 Materials fee will be collected on the 1st Day)

• Cold Wax
• 140lb. Watercolor paper
• Palette Knife
• Palette Papper
• Wax Paper
• Gesso, brushes
• Powdered pigments, Charcoal, Collage Paper, Knitting Needles/Skewers
• Citra Solv, pipettes, glitter, oil crayons, stencils and more

There will be 20-minute lunch break, so bring a lunch with you!
