PAINTING THE LANDSCAPE

All levels welcome!

We welcome back our former director Sam Green for this engaging oil/acrylic workshop!

Instructor: Sam Allerton Green

Dates and Time:  April 21st - 23rd, 9am-2pm each day

In this workshop Sam will show students how to paint quickly and with a strong eye. The aim is to capture what it feels like to be in the landscape and to focus more on the painting than the reference. Students will seek to answer one of the most important questions, “Why is it paint?” Through lectures, demonstrations, painting prompts, and encouraging critiques, students will learn more effective ways to paint alluring landscapes. This class will focus specifically on oil painting as a medium but Sam welcomes students to use acrylic paints as well.

Materials: Multiple reference landscape photos. A full range of paint colors in acrylic or oil (preferably NOT student grade). Students should bring rags, a variety of brushes and a couple flat edge pallet knives. In addition students should bring a few cheap surfaces to work on.
