ALCOHOL INK WORKSHOP
All levels Welcome! Students get invidivualized critiques at both beginner and advanced levels.
Alcohol Ink is a highly pigmented and quick-drying medium applied by pouring, brushing or stamping on a non-porous surface such as Yupo. This workshopwill explore the unique qualities of this painting medium that may be used for flowing abstracted works, representational images and subjects that incorporate both. Flowers will be the primary subjects during this class, taking full advantage of these vibrant colored inks that intermingle in ways that create unique textural effects, often with unexpected results.
This workshop is experimental and explorative and the very nature of the inks offers a sense of creative playfulness during the process. Class time will be divided between demonstrations and students creating many paintings on a variety of sizes of Yupo.
All painting materials and yupo will be provided. Students are each asked to bring an apron or smock and some small pieces of cardboard to use in carrying their paintings home.
